Description: Remodel existing church buildings 1 & 2, ref permit # bld2008-10760 bldg #3 & 2008-01433 the church of the nazarene has made modifications to two of the buildings on the site that require building permits (see items 1, 2, 3). the site also has a, "youth house" the house was a donated to the church and is now being used for assembly purposes (see item #4) please note that the youth house has been used for assembly purposes for 20 or 30 years. 1- one of the required exits for the chapel is through the office/vestibule and the addition of the office wall restricts access to the required exit. the office on the north side of the chapel was created without a building permit. 2- the, "fireplace hall" area has walls added that have changed the exiting requirements. in order for the, "fireplace hall" to continue this use, a building permit must be obtained to establish proper exiting and other related code requirements. 3- the platform in the worship center is required to have a building permit. the building permit for the platform needs to address exiting, stairs, handrails, guards, flame spread ratings, type of construction, storage underneath, sprinkler requirements if applicable. this list is not all-inclusive. 4- a building permit is required to change the use for the youth house from a single family dwelling to an assembly use. there are several immediate concerns with the current use as an assembly: 1. means of egress must be established. 2. emergency lighting is required. 3. exit lighting is required. 4. panic hardware is required on the required exits. 5. compliance with flame spread ratings for interior materials. 6. fire sprinkler and/or fire alarms may be required. this list is not all-inclusive. due to the above-mentioned items the use of the youth house as an assembly shall be stopped until a building permit has been obtained and complied with for the assembly use.
